Mission statement

Our vision as the people of St Margaret’s is to be a church:

  • where the love of God is experienced and made known through worship and in our life together;
  • that grows in the Christian faith and proclaims that faith, to make ourselves and the world more God-like;
  • that is a sign of God’s presence in our community, welcoming all members of the community, and affirming the value of every human being.

The PCC has signed up to the ‘Inclusive Church’ movement.

St Margaret’s is a Fairtrade church.

St Margaret’s supports two Projects through USPG: Anglicans in World Mission

Healthcare for Tanzania supports four church-run hospitals and a polio hostel in Tanzania. HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis all contribute to the country’s low life expectancy of 46 years. Healthcare for Tanzania is working to control these diseases by supporting the Church of Tanzania as it runs these important local healthcare facilities.

Reaching out to Ethiopia

Ethiopia remains one of Africa's poorest nations: many Ethiopians rely on food aid from abroad. After the 1974 revolution, strong state controls were implemented and a large part of the ceremony was transferred to the public sector. It is in this context that USPG is supporting mission companions Bishop Andrew and Janice Proud.
