Baptisms & Confirmations

Baptism (sometimes called 'Christening') is the sacrament in which God adopts us as his children, forgives us our sins, makes us members of the Church, and inheritors of the kingdom of God. Often people are baptized when still a baby or small child, but adults can be baptized too! It is the first step on an amazing journey of faith with God, parents, godparents, friends, family and the Church. At St Margaret's, baptisms take place as part of our Sunday morning service. Confirmation is a rite, closely tied to baptism and following it, in which we express a mature commitment to Christ, and receive strength from the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands by the Bishop. In the Church of England, the rite of Confirmation is also the normal point at which a person is able to start receiving Holy Communion.

Weddings

Getting married in church means you make your solemn promises to each other not only in front of your family and friends but also in the sight of God and with God's blessing. Funerals

Funerals are an important way of marking the conclusion of a human life on earth. They provide the opportunity for friends and family to come together, express their grief and, at the same time, to give thanks for and commend their loved one to God's keeping.
